Youth Week Campaign: Magway Education Degree College organizes the event

Youth Week Campaign organized by the Department of Teacher Training of the Ministry of Education was launched at the Magway Education Degree College on Monday. Magway region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin and cabinet members, the Patron of the Region Women’s Sports Committee, departmental heads, faculty members and student joined the event.

The Region Chief Minister and officials formally opened the Youth Week activities of Magway Education Degree College and enjoyed entertainments of the students. It was followed by the youth roundtable discussion at the Pyinnya Beikman Hall and it was opened by the song entertained by the students.

Speaking on the occasion, the Region Chief Minster said that Magway Education Degree College is organizing the Youth Week Campaign from 4th to 8th September to improve the physical and mental strength of the students. Out of over 8 billion people in the world, the number of young people aged 15 and 24 is about 1.2 billion, which is about 16 percent of the global total population.

According to the 2019 interim population census of Myanmar, the number of young people aged 15 to 34 are 16 million which is over 33 percent of the nation population.

The Chief Minister explained about drafting Myanmar National Strategic Plan for Youth Policy (2020-2024) for the youth sector development, measures for sports sector of young people, nurturing the youths to become versatile students and good citizens of the nation, and called for making efforts for all-round development of the youths for the nation’s future.

The fitness dance of the Physical Education Department and the demonstration of the basic of Myanma martial arts were conducted. At the youth roundtable discussion, led by an official of IPRD, the students discussed the topics on youth and technology, youth and reading, youth and sports, youth and narcotic drugs and youth and culture. 

After that, the region chief minister and officials viewed around the displays of teaching aids at the Pyinnya Beikman hall. As the Youth Week activities, the youth roundtable discussion, extempore talks, exchange ideas, quiz, educative talks, actives of music department and market festivals will be conducted.
