South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol held the second policy briefing on 29th August.
Yoon stressed the need to overhaul the current state pension system, noting its failure to sufficiently support older generations and gain younger generations’ trust. He said that the government will introduce mechanisms to ensure the state pension fund’s stability and sustainability.
The reforms will aim to create a sustainable system that provides "intergenerational fairness and income security after retirement" to "restore trust in the National Pension Service", Yoon said.
