Yoma Yangon Marathon: More Than 11,000 Participants Take Part In 2020 Event

Yoma Yangon International Marathon 2020 took place at the Thuwunna Bumi Event Park in Yangon, Sunday.

It was the 8th edition and aimed to continue inspiring athletes and connect communities, both local and international through a love of running.

Union Minister Dr. Myint Htwe, the Speaker of Yangon Region Hluttaw, the Deputy Minister, the Yangon Mayor, the Yangon Regional Rakhine Ethnic Affairs Minister and official from Sports and Physical Education Department kicked off the event. The event was four categories: 42 km Full Marathon, 21km Half Marathon, 10 km Challenge and 3km Fun Run/Walk.

The race routes passed through iconic sites in Yangon such as Botahtaung and Shwedagon Pagodas and Inya Lake and the start and finishing point of the race is Thuwunnabhumi Event Park. More than 11,000 participants from local and abroad including Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and France took part in the 2020 event.
