Yemen's Huthis threaten blockade of Israeli port

Yemen’s Huthi rebels declared their intention to enforce a naval blockade on Israel’s Haifa port, citing Israel’s military actions in Gaza as the cause. In an official statement, Huthi military spokesman Yehya Saree notified international shipping companies that any vessels at or heading to Haifa would be treated as targets. 

The group said it included the port in its list of potential strike locations. The Huthis previously launched attacks in the Red Sea region, and this latest move signaled an expansion of their declared maritime operations into the Eastern Mediterranean.
