The Barbados threadsnake, the world’s smallest snake, spotted for the first time in nearly two decades.

The species was rediscovered during a March 2025 ecological survey conducted by the Barbados Ministry of the Environment and National Beautification and conservation group Re:wild. "The Barbados threadsnake is at the limit of how small a snake can be, measuring only about 3 to 4 inches long  when it is fully grown," according to a press statement.
