

The Italian town of Gubbio on Wednesday switched on the lights in a festive display of what the Guinness Book of World Records has billed as the world's largest Christmas tree by the Guinness Book of Records.
Nearly 300 lights outline the shape on the slopes of the Ingino hill, which rises behind the medieval town in central Italy. The record-breaking tree is 750 meters high and 450 meters wide), and took 8.5 kilometers of cables to light it up. The lights were turned on by Roberto Morroni, vice-president of the Umbria region.
