






The World Wetlands Day commemoration ceremony took place at the Moe Yun Gyi Wildlife Sanctuary in Bago Township on Sunday.
Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win, accompanied by the Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation and other government ministers attended the ceremony. During the event, the Moe Yun Gyi Lake Educational Booth was inaugurated along with the display of taxidermies and preserved animals that have been habited in the Moe Yun Gyi Lake as well as the Flyway Network Site maps.
At the ceremony, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of preserving wetlands for wildlife conservation and highlighted the efforts to nominate Moe Yun Gyi as an ASEAN Heritage Park. He emphasized public awareness and community-based conservation to protect the ecosystem of wetland area.
The Deputy Minister later outlined the benefits of conserving the wetland area for local communities. This was followed by screening of a video on wetland conservation, and presenting of prizes and certificates of honor to the winners of the World Wetlands Day essay competition. The Chief Minister and party then toured the winning students' essays, paintings and posters.
