A ceremony of World Immunization Week in Myanmar was held at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Health in Nay Pyi Taw in the morning on 27th April with the attendance of Union Minister Dr. Thet Khaing Win, Deputy Minister, senior officials, and representatives from the civil society organizations and the officials from WHO and UNICEF.
In his opening remark, the Union Minister said the World Immunization Week is being held in the countries across the globe from 24th to 30th April, 2023. The motto of this year is “The Big Catch-U”.It’s needed to act to catch-up the children who missed out on vaccines and did not received vaccination in full doses during the COVID-19 pandemic, restore essential immunization coverage.
As of today’s occasion of World Immunization Week, the efforts to be made to catch-up all children without one lag behind. Next, the Union Minister and Deputy Minister awarded the prizes to 3 regions and states which carried out the excellent performance of regular vaccination, 3 regions and states which put special effort for regular vaccination and 3 regions and states which tried regular vaccination in good performance and the public health head officers of relevant regions and states accepted the prizes.
Then, the Union Minister and party viewed round the mini exhibition booths displayed the records of vaccination activities to the expectant mothers and children in the townships of regions and states by the extended vaccination division of the Department of Public Health and encouraged the giving vaccination to the childdren under 3 who missed out the vaccination in Nay Pyi Taw Council area and the presented gifts to the children.
