The World Health Assembly (WHA) has adopted a landmark pandemic agreement aimed at enhancing global preparedness and response to future health emergencies. The agreement was finalized after over three years of negotiations and was approved by WHO member states during the WHA sessions held on May 19 and 20, in Geneva.

The treaty was passed with overwhelming support—124 in favor and 11 abstentions—during the annual World Health Assembly . The decision followed months of negotiations among Member States, culminating in a unanimous vote to adopt the agreement under Article 19 of the WHO Constitution.
