World Environment Day: MDY CM attended the observation of WED

Mandalay Region 2024 World Environment Day was observed at the City Hall in ChanAyeThaZan Township in the morning on 5th June.

In his opening remark, the Chief Minister U Myo Aung said that the World Environment Day is observed annually with the objectives and the theme of UN Environment Programme. This year’s theme is “Land Restoration, Desertification and building Drought Resilience”. By land restoration, land degradation, drought and desertification can be prevented.

The land restoration and conservation, mitigation of climate change and preservation of natural environment as well as the objectives including promotion of earning a living and food security to be implemented in momentum.

Next, the Video Clip on reading of messages sent by the UN Secretary General and Executive Director  of UN Environment Programme and the video clip on the eradication of desertification, drought resilience and land restoration were screened.

After that, the Chief Minister, Chief Justice of the Region High Court and Region Ministers awarded the prizes and certificate of honor to the best environmental management factory, workshop and industry, the best clean and green schools.
