





2024 World Diabetes Day was observed at Myanmar National Centre for Disease Control and Medical Training Centre on Thursday.
Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win attended the ceremony and made an opening speech. He said the ministry is implementing the measures for treatment and prevention of non-communicable diseases by drafting the National Strategic Plan (2023-2027). He added that the ministry is providing diabetes health care services for those in rural areas, through the opening of diabetes and hypertension treatment clinics at Rural Health Department every Wednesday.
At present, over 7,500 clinics have been opened, providing treatment and medicines. In addition, the Center of Excellence for Diabetes were opened at four hospitals in Yangon, Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw and Magwe People’s Hospital.
These centers provide health awareness for prevention diabetes while rendering treatments. The ceremony continued with screening of commemorative video clip, and a tour to the exhibited booths. As part of the activities, medical check-up services were provided to the staff with diabetes. Every year on November 14th, the commemorative activities for World Diabetes Day have been celebrated, and this year’s celebration was held with the theme “EmpoweringGlobal Health”.
