






The ceremony to mark the 36th Anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (World Children's Day) was held at the Chindwin Hall in Monywa, Sagaing Region, on November 20. The Sagaing Region Chief Minister U Myat Kyaw attended the ceremony and delivered the opening address.
First, Region Chief Minister U Myat Kyaw stated that child protection requires collaboration between parents, communities, and the environment to protect children from violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation. He emphasized that as children are the future human resources of the nation, child protection is a crucial task. He also mentioned that in line with the theme for this 36th Anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, World Children's Day, which is "Promoting Daily Rights, Listening to Children's Voices," it is necessary to implement more development projects that benefit children.
Following this, the Region Chief Minister and responsible officials watched and showed their support for the Video Clip commemorating the 36th Anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (World Children's Day).
Subsequently, the Region Chief Minister and attendees watched song and dance performances by children from local pre-schools in Monywa. The Region Minister for Natural Resources then presented an honorarium of 500,000 kyats to the children from the pre-schools who performed the song and dance.
Afterwards, the Region Chief Minister, the Region Chief Justice, Region Government members, and region-level department officials presented commemorative gifts and food items to the children from pre-schools in Monywa who attended the ceremony. They then took a group photo with the responsible officials, it’s reported.
