World Breastfeeding Week: Breastfeeding and Nutrition Promotion activities

A regional level occasion on the World Breastfeeding Week and Nutrition Promotion Week activities was held in Dawei Township of Tanintharyi Region on Wednesday under the theme “Enabling Breastfeeding: Making a Difference for Working Parents”.

On the occasion, Chief Minister U Myat Ko said that the nutrition promotion activities have been implemented since 1954 in Myanmar. He also added that implementations are underway for the activities including breastfeeding week, nutrition promotion week for children under 5, nutrition promotion week for pregnant and lactating mothers and elimination of Iodine deficiency diseases week.

After viewing the activities video of the World Breastfeeding Week and Nutrition Promotion Week, the Chief Minister presented awards to the winners of the World Breastfeeding Week poster competition.

Afterwards, the Regional Social Affairs Minister U That Zin presented awards to the winners of painting competition, and the smart lactating mother award was presented by the Regional Maternal and Child Welfare Supervisory Committee.

And, the Chief Minister, Region Avocate General and officials gave Vitamin A pills to the children under 5 and nutritious tablets and gifts for the expectant mothers. Later, the Chief Minister and party viewed around the displayed booths.
