





The State level commemorative ceremony on 2023 World Breast Feeding Week and Nutrition Promotion Week was held at the office of the Department of Medical and Public Health Services in Taunggyi at 8 AM on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Zaw Aye said the activities under nutrition promotion weeks are conducted to raise public awareness of health and nutrition, to encourage people to practice healthy habits for the better future and to improve the health sector of women and children.
The Nutrition Promotion Weeks are composed of a specific theme for each week: World Breastfeeding Week; under-five children and school children nutrition promotion week; expectant mothers and lactating mothers nutrition promotion week and I-O-dine Deficiency Disorders (IDD) Elimination week.
This year’s commemorative theme for world’s annual breastfeeding week is “Enabling breastfeeding: making a difference for working parents.” Then, the head of the Department of State Medical and Public Health clarified the nutrition promotion activities being carried out and a video clip of the nutrition promotion week activities was screened.
Afterwards, the Chief Minister and wife, Chief Justice of State High Court and wife and concerned officials provided nutritious foodstuff to the children and nutrition supplements to the expectant mothers. Then, the Chief Minister and party took a documentary photo and looked around the commemorative booths.
