







The delegates from ASEAN countries arrived in Nay Pyi Taw to attend the two-day workshop on "Mastering Government Communication: Empowering Spokespersons for Effective Public Engagement", organized by Media Development Department under the Ministry of Information.
Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn hosted a dinner for the delegates at the Horizon Lakeview Resort in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday.
The event was attended by Union Minister of the Ministry 2 at the Office of the Chairman of the State Administration Council U Ko Ko Hlaing, Myanmar Press Council Chairman, ASEAN Secretariat representatives, delegates from ASEAN member countries and an observer delegation from Japan, along with relevant officials and trainers. The event commenced with a screening of a video clip on “ASEAN Information Sector and Myanmar Media.”
Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn expressed pride in bringing ASEAN partners together to enhance government communication. He outlined the workshop's goal to act as a bridge between governments and citizens, promoting transparency, trust and stronger communities. He also stated that the workshop would focus on public communication, crisis management and clear messaging, offering practical exercises and methods for spokespersons.
The Union Minister emphasized that the event underscores ASEAN’s commitment to capacity building and cooperation, highlighting that effective communication fosters better dialogue, empathy, and mutual understanding.
Union Minister then presented souvenirs to trainers and ASEAN delegates, followed by a documentary photo session. They then had dinner and enjoyed ASEAN song and dance performances by Myanma Radio and Television’s artistes. In the afternoon, ASEAN delegates visited the Gems Museum where they observed the displays of jewelry and sale shops.
