Working Committee Meeting: MCRD UM attended the meeting and gave a speech

A Coordination Meeting of the Working committee for Rehabilitation of Vocational Industries was held at the meeting hall of the Rural Development Department in Nay Pyi Taw on 10th April.

The meeting was attended by the committee chair, Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development, U Hla Moe, who delivered a speech. The Union Minister stated that the meeting was convened in response to the urgent need for effective management and support of rehabilitation efforts for the vocational industries in the regions affected by natural disasters.

He emphasized that, alongside immediate relief operations, both short-term and long-term recovery plans must be carefully implemented. He urged the relevant ministries and committees to prepare and act swiftly in case of any natural disasters and to quickly execute plans based on prior preparations.

Furthermore, the Union Minister explained that the Rural Development Department, under the ministry, had been able to provide family kits, hygiene kits, dignity kits, blankets, mosquito nets, carbolic soap bars, water buckets, and chlorine powder worth over 7.5 billion Kyats in affected areas such as the villages in Zabuthiri, Zeyathiri, Lewe, Tat Kone, Pyinmana, Uttarathiri, Dakkhinathiri, Mandalay and Sagaing cities.

He also mentioned that clean drinking water and necessary supplies were distributed to those affected by the earthquake. Following this, the secretary of the Work Committee and the Committee members departmental officials provided detailed reports on the ongoing efforts to manage emergency operations, conduct rescue work, and continue with the rehabilitation of affected areas.

They also outlined the future plans for further action. The Union Minister then provided guidance and feedback on the presentations, instructing the committee to continue with their efforts and to fill in any gaps in their plans. Additionally, the Union Minister and officials observed working of rural development Department.

They also inspected the distribution of clean drinking water through mobile water purification units in some villages of Pobbathiri Township, checked the status of the temporary shelters built for the earthquake-affected staffs and their families in Zabuthiri Township, reviewed the preparations on the land owned by the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development for constructing temporary housing for staff families. The Union Minister gave instructions to ensure that arrangements for water and electricity for the temporary shelters were secured and coordinated in advance.
