On Saturday, Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan inspected collective cleaning tasks on the sandbank of the Ayeyarwady River, near the LawKaMarnAung SuTaungPyae Pagoda in Myitkyina Township.

During his visit, the Chief Minister observed the efforts of participants who were clearing garbage, tree branches and overgrown bushes from the area. He then extended his inspection to key infrastructure projects, including the construction of a sluice gate at the confluence of Injankha Creek and the Ayeyarwady River, preliminary mechanical excavation work to improve the creek’s flow and land leveling for a new public recreation space.

The Chief Minister and party later proceeded to the 100-acre Bala Min Htin model plantation for the 2024-2025 monsoon paddy harvest and a demonstration on growing multiple crops.

At the event, the Chief Minister outlined plans to increase rice cultivation by 200%, achieve 100% food self-sufficiency and ensure collaboration among farmers and departments to maintain uninterrupted rice production with quality inputs.

The Chief Minister and party then observed the harvesting of model paddy with a thresher, tractor-assisted soybean sowing and the calculation of the yield, which amounted to 125 baskets of wet paddy per acre.
