Under leading of Vice Chairman (1) of the National Disaster Management Committee Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae, Vice Chairman (2) of the Committee Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win, the work coordination meeting of the Committee was held at the Disaster Management Center at the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on 30th October.
At the opening remarks, Vice Chairman (1) of the Committee, Union Minister for the Ministry of Home Affairs, Lt-Gen. YarPyae, stated that the Chairman of the State Administration Council and Prime Minister has directed the completion of rehabilitation efforts related to the flood and landslide damages caused by Typhoon Yagi by March 15, 2025.
He emphasized that any reconstruction projects that cannot be completed by the targeted timeframe should be presented to the National Level Disaster Management Committee for necessary support. He further stated that each committee and region should prepare based on expected weather conditions and potential impacts on Myanmar, as forecasted by meteorological predictions.
Deputy Chairman (2), Union Minister Dr. Soe Win of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement, addressed the need to comprehensively report requirements related to flood rehabilitation efforts. He highlighted that plans for repairing departmental buildings should be submitted with appropriate budget proposals following guidelines.
He called for swift coordination between relevant committees and government departments to verify and report data on damage and losses. Additionally, he instructed that the current status of ongoing rehabilitation efforts, as well as pending projects, should be presented and discussed to determine the likelihood of their timely completion.
At the meeting, providing financial assistance for the families of the persons died of the flood caused by Typhoon Yagi form Nay Pyi Taw Council, Kayah, Kayin and Shan states, Bago, Magway, Mandalay and Ayeyawady regions, cash assistance for the complete and partial destroyed houses, farmers and livestock breeders, repairing of road and bridges, electricity and communications and railway tracts etc.After that, the Vice Chairmen coordinated the requirements and gave necessary instructions.
