Work Coordination Meeting: One ASEAN One Response- OAOR Roadshow held

Work Coordination Meeting of One ASEAN One Response- OAOR Roadshow was held at Park Royal Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday.

It was organized by the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlemet in collarboration with AHA Centre. At the opening ceremony, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win delivered a speech via video message stating that the One ASEAN One Response Declaration is being implemented by ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management- ACDM and AHA centre and OAOR Roadshow is held as it is crucial for the governmental and non-governemental organisations to systematically carry out the disaster relief activities within the ASEAN member states.

He added that the State could carry out effective response activities during floods caused by Cyclone Mocha and Typhoon Yagi which occured in 2023 and 2024 respectively. He expressed gratitude to AHA Centre, on behalf of the State and flood-affected victims, for providing relief items, information and technology assistance during these natural disasters, an evidence for effective implementation of One ASEAN One Response.

The attendees made discussions on the matters regarding the disaster response, policies and regulations for relief and resettlement activities as well as the Standard Operating Procedure for Regional Standby Arrangements and Coordination of Joint Disaster Relief and Emergency Response Operations (SASOP).
