





Mon State Child Labor Elimination Committee held its work coordination meeting at the State Government Office on 9th January with the attendance of Committee’s Patron Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein and other concerned officials.
At the meeting, the Chief Minister identified poverty, large family size, low education and traditional customs as key causes of child labor. He emphasized the importance of the ILO Convention No. 182, which defines child labor as work that harms children's education and physical and mental development.
The Chief Minister urged collaboration on the Second 5-Year Work Plan (2024-2028) for eliminating child labor in Myanmar. The meeting continued with reports on the progress of child labor elimination efforts, challenges in reducing child labor and the work undertakings of the 8 Child Labor Elimination Working Committees. The Chief Minister then coordinated the necessary requirements based on the reports and the meeting concluded with his closing remarks.
