






For the development of MSME sector of the country, the Ministry of Planning and Finance held a work coordination meeting at the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on March 19. Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister U Win Shein attended the meeting together with the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar and many other concerned officials.
In his opening speech, Union Minister U Win Shein in his capacity as Chairman of the Microfinance Business Supervisory Committee stated that the Microfinance Business plays the vital role for rural development by reducing poverty while providing financial services for boosting production of agriculture and livestock breeding based MSME businesses.
Investment opportunities in local and international have been opened since 2014, microfinance operations have been improved before COVID-19 pandemic. According to the statistics, loan disbursement amount reduced in January 2025 compared to the statistics in January 2021 within Nay Pyi Taw Council Area.
In response, the Union Minister urged the attendees to made collaborative efforts for the development of MSME businesses in harmonize with the financial service programmes implemented by the government.
During the meeting, attendees cordially discussed on microfinance businesses which should be undertaken and future plans.
Then, the Chairman of the Microfinance Association clarified the development processes of microfinance businesses and video clip of the working processes of the association was screened. And, the attendees made sector wise discussions and the meeting was concluded in the evening.
