Work Committee meeting: ICVWC of Central Committee held meeting 2/2023

The Immigration and Citizenship Verification Work Committee of the Central Committee on Rakhine State Stability, Peace and Development Committee held its 2/2023 meeting in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday.

First, Committee Chairman Union Minister U Myint Kyaing talked about the formation of a central committee and five work committees to ensure the Rakhine State stability, peace and development including the Rakhine State development programmes, repatriation of refugees, humanitarian assistance and rehabilitation processes.

He continued that the Immigration and Citizenship Verification Work Committee makes efforts to accept the displaced persons and organized working committees under the Myanmar-Bangladesh bilateral agreement.

It also verified the lists sent by Bangladesh until the end of February 2023 and made replies for over 87,000 persons – over 56,000 who used to live in Myanmar, about 900 who are on the lists of terrorists by the Ministry of Home Affairs and over 30,000 who have no documents to prove that they lived in Myanmar via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Then, Secretary of Work Committee Permanent Secretary U Win Zaw Aung presented the decisions made at the 1/2023 meeting and Director-General U Ye Tun Oo reported on the findings of the inspection team and facts to be reviewed.

Vice-Chair of the Work Committee U Kyaw Myo Htut, members and attendees coordinated the discussion. Then, the director-general of the Immigration Department sought approval for the meeting and the Union minister concluded the meeting.
