Women’s Day in Kachin State: SAC member attended the celebration in Myitkyina

Since the 30th of June, the water level in Myitkyina of Kachin State has surged due to record breaking Ayeyawady River flooding caused by heavy rains and a member of State Administration Council Daw Dwe Bu who is in Myitkyina for undertaking rehabilitation and providing assistances for the flood victims attended an observation of Myanmar Women’s Day held in indoor statium of State People’s Sports Ground at 8:30 Am on Friday and awarded the prize of honor to the outstanding Women in the State.

First, the members of Kachin State Women’s Affairs Committee opened the occasion by singing the honor song for Women’s Day. In her opening remark, SAC member Daw Dwe Bu said that the Myanmar Women’s Day is organized yearly in honoring and acknowledging the capacity of Myanmar Women and holds the State level honoring ceremony.

As population of women outnumberes men more than 2 million in Myanmar, it’s needed to obtain the participation of women’s capacity effectively in the implementation for the development of the country as well it’s urged to address to enhance the capacity of women.

Next, the State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan extended words of honor for Myanmar Women's Day. Then, the SAC member awarded cash of honor and certificate of honor to those who were awarded the prizes of excellent performances.

State Chief Minister and wife, Chief Justice of State High Court, State Government Ministers, Rector of Myitkyina University and Precipal of Education Degree College awarded the prize of honor, certificate of honor and cash of honor to those who made efforts for long time in the Women’s Affairs Committee and Maternal and Child Welfare Supervising Committee, Lu Yay Chun prize winner, students who passed the matriculation exam with distinctions and the outstanding athletes.

After that, the SAC member and officials viewed the ethnic traditional dances and songs performed by the children from pre-school and the members of women associations and video clip, awarded cash of honor, took a documentary photo together with them and looked the display booths exhibited by the Department of Social Welfare in commemoration of Myanmar Women’s Day.

In the afternoon, SAC member, Chief Minister and State Ministers visited domestic vocational training school in Shan-Su Taung Ward of Myitkyina, inspected the trainings given in the school, provided cash assistance and coordinated with the State Government to expand the Village/ward based trainings.

Next, the SAC member and party attended the donation ceremony for the flood victims held at the relief camp set in Mahasi Sasana Yeiktha in Aung-Nan Ward and SAC member gave necessary suggestions. Then, the SAC member and Chief Minister provided rice bags, boxes of dried noodle, fish can, bean and purified water bottles and coordinated requirements.

After that, the SAC member and Chief Minister inspected removing silted soils by the personnel of the Department of Road Transportation, members of Township development Committee and fire brigade with machinery in Lal-Kone ward and provided cash assistance for the personnel, it’s learnt.
