Winter storm dumps a foot of snow on Denver area

The Denver area could get more than a foot of snow from a storm system moving through Colorado.

The snow began Tuesday afternoon and is expected to move out of the area by Wednesday afternoon. The National Weather Service warned of "miserable conditions" for Wednesday's commute. Several area highways and mountain roads were closed due to crashes and the heavy snow.
