Wildfires continue to advance in western Spain

Wildfires continued to spread across Spain on Saturday as firefighters worked around the clock to try to bring them under control. The video shows fire outbreaks in Casas de Miravete in the Extremadura region, near Monfrague National Park.

Other footage shows smoke rising at Guadapero, in the Salamanca area of the Castilla y León region. A heat wave hitting Spain and Portugal has created conditions for flames to spread more quickly and hampered efforts to control it. Authorities are linking these more frequent, more intense and more prolonged heat waves to climate change.
