Top executives from major technology companies arrived in Paris on Wednesday ahead of a summit. a summit aims at combating online extremism in the aftermath of the Christchurch massacre. The event on Thursday will run parallel to a meeting Macron will co-host with New Zealand's Prime Minister.
World leaders from Britain, Canada and the European Union backed the initiative dubbed the 'Christchurch Appeal' which tackles online violence after a lone gunman killed 51 people at two mosques in Christchurch on March 15 while live streaming the massacre.
On Tuesday, Facebook Inc said it was tightening rules around its livestreaming feature, citing the New Zealand shooting. Representatives from Facebook, Alphabet Inc's Google, Twitter Inc are among those expected to take part in the meeting.
