Welcoming Ceremony :MOH welcomes over 600 house surgeons

The welcoming ceremony for house surgeons who are going to serve duties for one year was held at University of Medicine 1 and 2 in Yangon on 3rd July with the attendance of Union Minister for Health Professor Dr. Thet Khaing Win.

In his speech, the Union Minister said that it is a very precious day for the country and the Ministry for becoming house surgeons after studying hard who can provide healthcare services for the public and the Ministry appreciated for them.  The fresher house surgeons are urged to actively participate in giving medical services for the public.

Under the management of the Department of Human Resources for Health, the medical doctors, dentists, medical specialists, medical experts, nurses, basic healthcare specialists and traditional medical practitioners are being raised. Post graduate courses has started since 1964 and at present, altogether 140 courses including diploma, M.Sc and PhD are being opened.

Besides medical treatment, the newly house surgeons are also urged to participate in giving health awareness programs, to put effort into good leader shiop skill and to follow disciplines maintaining the dignity of a doctor.

It is also needed to well understand Professional Attiutude and Behavior and Professional Ethics and to try hard to become reliable and valuable medical doctors for the country and people trying with good intentions and beliefs. Next, Professor Dr. Khin Maung Aye, Chairman of Myanmar Medical Council explained the rules and duties that are to be followed by the doctors.

Next, the Union Minister hosted refreshing meals fro the hosue surgeons and greeted cordially to them. Afterwards, the Union Minister and officials visited North Okalapa General Hospital and observed the newly operation rooms to be opened, ICUs, and the kidney patients and instructed the needs.

On the same day, the welcoming ceremonies for the newly house surgeons were also held at the Universities of Medicine Mandalay and Magwe regions. Universities of Medicine under the Department of Human Resources for Health, totaling 604 house surgeons are going to serve duties for one year at the training hospitals starting from 2023 and they are going to take State’s responsibility serving as the assistant doctors.
