Welcoming ceremony for athletes: Kachin State CM attended the ceremony

The 2024 National Sports Festival began in Naypyidaw on December 9. Kachin State participated in 21 out of the 23 sports categories at the region and state-level competitions.

Kachin State teams competed in several events and, upon returning, were warmly welcomed at the Myitkyina Airportat 7 PM on December 15 by Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan and wife, Chief Justice of the State High Court, State Government Ministers and their wives, State level departmental officials and families of athletes.

Following that, in the airport's VIP lounge, the Chief Minister of Kachin State hosted a ceremony for the sports teams, expressing pride in their efforts and accomplishments at the festival. He acknowledged the athletes who won medals and praised those who participated with a full spirit of sportsmanship, regardless of whether they won. He encouraged the youth of the state to continue striving for success and bring honor to the state in future competitions.

The sports officials and coaches shared their experiences and details about the outcomes and medal wins for each sport. The Chief Minister further encouraged the systematic training and nurturing of the talented young athletes to continue producing competent future generations, as seen in this event. He also congratulated the Drum and Bugle corps with cash of honor for their outstanding performance.

The returned sports teams, consisting of 69 members, including coaches and athletes, participated in various events. In the football competition, the women's team won a silver medal, the basketball team earned a bronze medal, the women’s volleyball team secured a bronze medal, and the boxing team won a silver medal, bringing honor to the state.
