Welcoming and honoring: Rakhine State CM honored the athletes of Rakhine State team

A ceremony of welcoming and honoring the Rakhine State sports team, which participated in the 5thNational Sports Festival was held at the Rakhine State Government Office on 25th December. The event was, Chief Justice of the State Court, members of the State Government, relevant department officials, athletes, and the coaches and managers.

During the ceremony, the Chairman of the Steering Committee for participation in the Fifth National Sports Festival Chief Minister U Htein Lin spoke about the promising new generation of young athletes emerging from the 5thNational Sports Festival. He mentioned that some of these athletes would be selected for national teams.

He also acknowledged that, apart from the award-winning athletes from Rakhine State, those who did not win awards but performed well would also serve as role models for young athletes. He emphasized that strengthening the sports sector in any country enhances its image, and he encouraged the athletes to continue striving for success according to the principles of sports. While the National Sports Festival has concluded, he urged everyone to continue their training for future competitions.

The Minister for Social Affairs, Chairman  of the Fifth National Sports Festival Achievement Committee, shared experiences from participating in the event and presented a video recording of the Rakhine State sports teams competing at the festival.

Following this, the State Chief Minister honored and awarded certificates to the athletes who participated in the Fifth National Sports Festival. One athlete expressed their gratitude in return.

A total of 353 participants, including administrators, coaches, and athletes from Rakhine State, took part in the 2024 Fifth National Sports Festival. They won 5 gold medals, 11 silver medals, 16 bronze medals, and achieved 12th place overall among other regions and states, it’s reported.
