






A ceremony to commemorate the 2024 World Environmental Day was held in Sittwe Township of Rakhine State on Wednesday with the attendance of the Chief Minister U Htein Lin, State Advocate General Daw Mya Aye, many other concerned officials and invited guests. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister stressed that the World Environment Day is celebrated annually across the world by holding environmental conservation activities to put a spotlight on environmental challenges of the time.
World Environment Day 2024 focuses on land restoration, stopping desertification and building drought resilience under the theme of “Land restoration, desertification and drought resilience”. And, the global host of the 2024 World Environment Day celebration is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The public awareness on environmental conservation can be raised by holding world environment day celebrations, he added. Next, the video messages sent by the United Nations Secretary General and the Executive Director of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) were screened.
It was followed by screening of a video clip commemorating World Environment Day. Then, the Chief Minister cordially greeted the attendees. The ceremony was concluded after a group photo session.
