Water supply to Beijing's Guishui River will continue till October when the 2019 Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition concludes, the local authorities said. As the exhibition will be held on both sides of the Guishui River, the local government decided to discharge water from the Baihebu Reservoir in the region to ensure the smooth operation of the event from April to October. The river has seen decreasing water over the past years, due to its geography, low rainfall and increasing water demand along the river. The seven-month water supply will help recover the river.
The local government said they will ask related sewage treatment plants to improve their work and toughen supervision on water quality along the river. The 2019 Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition will run from April 29 until October 7. This is the second time for China to hold such a high-level horticulture expo. The first was held in Kunming City in 1999.
