As the full moon day of Waso, known as Dhammacakka Day is an auspicious day for Myanmar Buddhists, people make good deeds such as offering robes, making donations, reciting Dhammacakkapavattana Sutta and paying homage to Buddha’s images on that full moon day.

Well-wishers from Shwe Than Lwin Media Co., Ltd. also organize annual Waso Robe Offering Ceremony on the full moon day of Waso which falls on 3rd August at the Alodawpyae Monastery in Yangon.

Alodawpyae Sayadaw, Venerable Ariyavamsa said “There are many benefits for offering robes on Waso Full moon day. Buddhists donate waso robes only once time a year. The persons who offer Waso robes enjoy good deeds from their donation and never go to hell… it is believed.”

At the ceremony, attendees listened to the sermons delivered by the Sayadaw and offered Waso robes.

Film Director, Maung Myo Min said “I am very pleased to offer Waso robe on that Full Moon day. Such kind of ceremony is held annually. This year, the ceremony is held at the monastery to keep social distancing in line with the instruction of COVID-19 prevention.”

Offertories including towels, soaps, toothpaste among others donated to 170 monks who are residing in the monastery at the ceremony.
