Volcano erupts in northern Colombia

The eruption of a mud volcano occurred on Wednesday afternoon in San Juan de Urabá municipality in northwest Colombia.

Local officials said the mud volcano erupted near a municipal water treatment plant and close to homes which will be evacuated as a precaution. Officials said there were no reported injuries. Colombia is home to dozens of mud volcanoes and mud volcanoes can produce dramatic eruptions and occasional fires when gases ignite.
