Volcano erupts near Icelandic capital

A volcano erupted near Iceland's capital on Monday, the country's meteorological office said, marking the third time in two years that lava has gushed out in the area.

The eruption is in the similar location scientists expected, north of previous eruptions. There is more power in this eruption than in 2021 and 2022. The crack is bigger than last time, around 900 meters, and there is more gas pollution. There might be dangerous conditions at the eruption site.
