VNEID biometric checks at all airports

Viet Nam is pushing ahead with major initiatives to make essential services more accessible and efficient. One of the next big steps is the nationwide rollout of biometric identification through the VNeID system, starting at airports this October.

This falls under Directive No. 24 on promoting the use of technological solutions to support people and businesses through population data, identification and electronic authentication, signed by Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính.

This identification system will also be introduced at urban railway stations and parking with completion set for 2025. From 1 December, check-in at counters will be reserved only for passengers with checked baggage and those requiring special assistance.
