8 January 2019

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday fire a howitzer in a traditional noon-shot to mark Orthodox Christmas celebrations in the city of St Petersburg.

As the dummy charge rang across the horizon from the Peter and Paul fortress, military officials burst out laughing and congratulated the president on a precise shot. Putin replied with a joke: ' It was hard to miss.' The Russian leader later visited an exhibition of ice sculptures inside the fortress.
