Visiting Port Terminal: SAC Chairman visits AWPT in Yangon

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing visited Asia World Port Terminal in Ahlon Township of Yangon Region on 15th March and inspected the capacity of the port and trading condition. 

Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo presented reports on port handling capacity while Union Minister for Commerce U Tun Ohn on trading condition. Upon clarifications, the Prime Minister emphasized the crucial role of Myanmar port among Southeast Asian nations. 

At present, the export volume at the port has decreased due to various circumstances. He stressed the need to find solutions to increase export volume, overcoming the difficulties encountered and conquering restrictions. 

The Prime Minister added that due to some economic sanctions, Myanmar needs to accelerate its domestic production industry to boost export sector, while also evaluating the trading routes and channels to ensure the seamless flow of trade.

Likewise, plans should be made to construct underground railway network as well as the necessary arrangements to prevent traffic congestion and other requisite measures, emphasizing on prosperity of the port. 

Then, the Prime Minister and party made inspections along Asia World Port Terminal.
