Visiting Home for the Aged: MOIP UM visited Home for the Aged in Pathein

Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing, accompanied by responsible officials, visited the Settawyar Home for the Aged in Pathein, Ayeyarwady Region, on November 26.

There, he met with the home's officials and the elderly residents. The Union Minister explained to the elders the importance of being able to vote in the upcoming general election and emphasized the need to possess their Citizenship Scrutiny Cards (CSCs) to avoid losing their citizenship rights.

He also discussed the processes for obtaining replacement cards in cases of loss or damage, as well as the ongoing and upcoming work to collect biographic/biometric data and issue Unique ID numbers. Then, the Union Minister inquired about the living conditions, nutrition, and healthcare arrangements provided for the elderly at the center.

He personally distributed food items to each elderly resident and respectfully paid obeisance to them. The elders, in return, offered their extended their loving-kindness. Afterward, the Union Minister donated solar lamps and food supplies for the home to the responsible staff.

He also instructed them to assist the elderly in maintaining access to their Citizenship Scrutiny Cards and voting rights, and encouraged them to discuss any needs or difficulties. Necessary coordination was then provided, and the Union Minister bid fare greeted them and offered encouragement to the elderly, it’s reported.
