Queues of people were seen lining up outside coronavirus testing centres in Sydney on Sunday as officials across Australia acknowledged there had been a high demand of people looking to get tested for the virus.

In the state of New South Wales, where Sydney is located, more than 90,000 COVID-19 tests were conducted on Saturday. Meanwhile, officials said 48,252 tests were conducted in the state of Victoria.

New South Wales on Sunday reported two more COVID-19 related deaths and 18,278 new cases. Meanwhile, Victoria recorded three new deaths and a further 7,172 cases of COVID-19 infections in the past 24 hours.
