Virginia home blast kills firefighter, injures 11 people

A firefighter was killed and at least 11 people injured after a house in Virginia exploded on Friday, authorities said. The Assistant Chief of the local Fire Department described the scene of the blast as total devastation.

The investigation into what caused the explosion continues. Nine firefighters and two civilians were taken to nearby hospitals, he said, adding that their injuries ranged from severe to less severe.
