Magway Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin attended the opening ceremony of the new electrification project in Kwan Ohn (North) Village of Myekyoneye Town in Magway Township on Friday.
The Chief Minister activated the new 11/0.4 kV, 200 kVA transformer, officially supplying electricity to the village. They then visited households that have started using electricity. In his speech, the Chief Minister said the regional government is working to increase electricity production, expand access for households, and bring power to villages that still lack electricity.
He explained plans for the Magway Industrial Zone, including a new 33/11 kV, 20 MVA substation, and the use of solar and coal as part of an energy mix to ensure 24-hour electricity during low-generation periods. He added that a new 10-mile 11 kV power line from Thityarkauk Substation to Myekyoneye was built with regional budget.
As a result, 146 households in Kwan Ohn (North) Village will now receive electricity, improving social, economic, educational, and health conditions. From 2021 to now, the regional government has provided electricity to 785 villages, reaching about 984,480 households. Currently, around 62% of households in Magway Region have electricity access.
