On July 23, Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong departed from Hanoi on an official visit to Austria. This visit is expected to help promote bilateral ties and multilateral diplomacy between the two countries. During the visit, Vietnamese President held talks with Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen.

He will also meet with Claudia Arpa, President of the Federal Council, and have working sessions with the mayors of Vienna and Burgenland states. Austria was one of the first Western countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam in 1972 when the war in Vietnam had not yet ended. Over the past five decades, bilateral relations between the two countries have developed in various fields.
