The Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Environment convened an emergency meeting to propose urgent control measures in Hanoi on Tuesday, aiming to ensure the national food supply remains stable through the end of the year as many northern provinces are facing a resurgence of the African swine fever.

In addition to disease prevention and containment, authorities will ramp up inspections and monitoring efforts to prevent two critical issues: hiding outbreaks and illegally selling or consuming infected pigs. Local authorities have also been urged to stop the illegal dumping of dead pigs into rivers, which poses serious environmental and public health risks.
