Viet Nam nominated as chair of SPLOS conference

Viet Nam has just been nominated by the Asia-Pacific Group for the position of Chair of the 35th Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (SPLOS).

The position will be officially elected just before the meeting scheduled for June 23–27 at the UN Headquarters in New York. This nomination demonstrates the high trust and recognition from the international community for Viet Nam’s pioneering efforts. If elected, this will be the first time Viet Nam has assumed the chairmanship of the (SPLOS) since becoming a member in 1994.
