Viet Nam commemorated the 80th anniversary of the declaration of the “Democratic Republic of Viet Nam” by revolutionary leader Ho Chi Minh on September 2, 1945, when the nation proclaimed independence from French rule.

Tens of thousands of people gathered at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi on Tuesday to participate in the official celebrations. The event featured a parade with a wide range of military equipment, including helicopters, fighter jets, and naval vessels.

Officials reported that nearly 16,000 personnel took part in the parade, which also included honour guards from China, Russia, Laos, and Cambodia. Authorities said the celebrations highlighted the country’s historical achievements and the enduring legacy of its independence.
