Viet Nam’s first radar satellite, LOTUSat-1 will be launched into space in early 2025. Preparations are currently being finalized by the Viet Nam Space Center in collaboration with Japan.

It is the latest radar technology satellite, offering a wide set of skills such as detecting objects as small as 1 meter on the ground and providing day and night observation capabilities. It will capture images and provide accurate information to mitigate the impacts of natural disasters, climate change, resource management, and environmental monitoring.

Unlike optical satellites, radar satellites can capture images under all weather conditions, even in cloudy, foggy, or low-light conditions. The data provided by this radar satellite will be valuable to Viet Nam, particularly in cloudy climate conditions.
