





The opening ceremony of the "Preservation Techniques for Vegetables and Fruits for Long-Term Storage" 5-day training course (No. 1/2025) was held at the Htone Bo Post-Harvest Technology Training Center in Patheingyi Township of Mandalay Region. The ceremony was attended by Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung, Region Government Ministers, responsible officials, trainers, and trainees.
During the ceremony, the Region Chief Minister delivered the opening speech. He stated that as consumer lifestyles and eating habits have changed, the production of value-added products and the spread of production techniques are crucial for ensuring food security, improving the health and nutrition of consumers, and increasing the incomes of agricultural producers and their families. He emphasized that the process of preserving and enhancing vegetables and fruits after harvesting is essential to reduce loss from spoilage and maintain quality, and that farmers should be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to implement these techniques effectively
Following the speech, the principal of Htone Bo Post-Harvest Technology Training Center explained the objectives of the course and provided details about the center. After that, a group photo was taken. The Chief Minister and party observed the training in progress, where 30 staff members from the Department of Agriculture of Bago, Mandalay, Yangon, Shan, Ayeyarwady, and Naypyidaw Regions were participating.
The Chief Minister and party then visited the thriving Sunnhemp seed producing plantation in Htone Bo Mulbery farm, systematic cultivation of silkworms and producing cocoon, heard the reports of the responsible officials and coordinated requirements, it’s reported.
