Following the death of Pope Francis, the Vatican announced on 28th April that the conclave to choose the next pope will begin on 7th May.

Cardinals of the Roman Catholic Church will cast their ballots at the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican. To be elected, a candidate needs at least two-thirds of the votes of the 135 eligible cardinals. Voting will be repeated until a new pope is selected. Once that happens, white smoke will be emitted from the chimney of the worship hall and its bell will be rung.
