U.S. Vice President JD Vance met Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in Budapest during an official visit ahead of Hungary’s tightly contested parliamentary elections on 12 April. The visit is seen as a show of support for Orbán, who is seeking to extend his 16-year tenure in power.

Vance is expected to join Orbán at a joint press conference and later appear at an election rally. The upcoming vote is considered Orbán’s toughest challenge, with opposition leader Péter Magyar and his Tisza party leading in most opinion polls.
