Value-added rubber production: MoALI Union Minister meets MRPPA and members

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung met President of Myanmar Rubber Planters & Producers Association ( MRPPA ) and members at the Union Minister office on Tuesday and discussed development of long-term value-added rubber production.

At the meeting, President of the Association and officials reported on rubber growing, producing and exporting, value-added rubber production process and prospect for future rubber market.

In response to the reports, the Union Minister stressed on production of rubber based finished products, the needs for adopting short and long term plans for the interests of rubber planters and producers, substitution of new rubber plants in the place of the old ones for per acre rubber high yield, and opportunities to boost investment in the production of rubber and leather based finished goods.

For more development of quality rubber export, restrictions on export earnings have been relaxed if the rubbers are exported as a high value-added product.
